Roots of Voodoo

click here for moreimages of voodoo religion rituals or visit my website here: photographer Dusseldorf
Workshop of a traditional Voodoo healer. Most of the people in Benin go to a traditional healer first, and only when he fails to cure them they make a visit to regular doctor.. Voodoo is a very complicated religion; often not understood by westerners. It is estimated that Voodoo is about 4000 years old. Voodoos' cradle in West Africa is Benin and Togo.

Recovering from his first bee sting :(

Don't worry, he's just fine!
It was a little scary of course, especially when he got feverish and fell asleep soon after, and didn't want to wake up. I gave him the homeopathic apis mellifera (which is made from bees) and he was acting like himself in no time! Whew!

Sainte Anne's Street in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.

This is an Autostitch panorama of Sainte Anne's Street in the Montreal "West Island" suburb of Sainte Anne de Bellevue, on the southwest tip of Montreal Island, on a very snowy day in early April.

This panorama was taken from the sidewalk on the south side of Sainte Anne's Street, facing the intersection with Saint Jean Baptiste Street (a minor side street), and features a Subway restaurant, the only major American fast food franchise left in Sainte Anne de Bellevue, after the demise of the Sainte Anne's McDonald's.

There's also Pragaï Couture, a downtown Montreal-style fashion boutique in the heart of Sainte Anne's, and the Paciência "Hollistic Centre".

flower remedies

April 5.
My friend Kathryn is a student of homeopathic healing, herbology and alternative healing. She and her husband cooked dinner for me last night and then Kathryn mixed up a batch of flower remedies for me (specifically, centaury, pine, and hornbeam). The history and mythology of flower remedies is pretty fascinating, and every time I'm around Kathryn, I really want to learn more about it.
